to S.O.S Academy
With the right people behind you, you can achieve anything.
Establishment of S.O.S Academy
Our team consists primarily of graduates from local New Zealand high schools with a few exceptional tutors who have graduated from secondary schools in other countries. Each member of our team has since then continued their academic journey at prestigious universities around the world including Harvard University, Imperial College London, the London School of Economics, Northwestern University, and the University of Melbourne.
The unprecedented occurrence of COVID-19 has disrupted students' education where they have seen an abrupt stop of their lives abroad. In light of this, our wonderful team have a simple and united objective: to assist all students striving for excellence amidst this tumultuous time. We are determined to pass on our knowledge to the next generation of high school graduates and share our experience and expertise in our respective fields.
All of our tutors are students of top universities around the world with tutoring experience in a variety of subjects: English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Accounting, Business, Economics, History, and Spanish. We are tremendously proud of their past achievements as medalists of International Olympiads, recipients of multiple NZQA scholarships and the pièce de résistance: “Top in New Zealand” of their high school subjects. Together with the support of the team, S.O.S Academy was established.
We want to inspire the next generation and challenge their academic limits to encourage their passions and ambitions.
How it Works
Based on years of education and academic experience, we strive to further enhance our student’s learning level and efficiency. We provide three main methods of instruction: private tutoring, small classes and university consulting.
Private tutoring consists of matching one dedicated tutor with a student's needs in a 90-minute lesson. This allows students to have a personalised experience with a tutor who works closely alongside them, helping them achieve their academic goals.
Small classes involve teaching students in class sizes of two to three students in a 90-minute lesson. This small class size not only gives students the opportunity to ask questions and actively engage in the course material, but also allows them to simultaneously learn from key questions brought up by their peers.
Our university consulting service pairs up one student with two tutors for each respective country. Our tutors also act as peer mentors to provide a well-rounded perspective on the application process.
